The Snow Goose medley by Camel

Camel is a band I probably should have given more of a chance than I have. The Snow Goose was another CD I bought in the same Heidelberg shop where I picked up Guru Guru’s Hinten. Like that album, The Snow Goose was lost in one of my great CD purges.

I’ve heard a couple of other Camel albums once or twice, but they didn’t have the sustained U.S. success necessary to make their CDs readily available on this side of the Atlantic during my peak prog years in the mid-’90s. They’re clearly talented, but their compositions were perhaps not as strong over the long haul as contemporaries like Genesis or Yes.

The Snow Goose is a near-masterpiece though, and it’s nice to see that this performance from the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test has survived in such good condition.
